MTS ALLSTREAM LUMINARIES — NOMINEE INFORMATION

Barb Sul has been involved with MTS Volunteers (formerly the Telephone Pioneers) for most of her MTS career. She actively started in 1985 as a Future Pioneer. Over the past 20 years she has chaired and participated in numerous projects and has been on the Executive for the past 11 years. She volunteers about 100 hours of her time per month.

As an MTS Volunteer, Barb has held positions for the Winnipeg Council as President, Past president, Vice-President, Membership, Publicity and Participation Chairperson, Secretary and Community Relations Chairperson. She has also acted as the Manitoba President and Chairperson and mentor to the Y-Team. She is currently serving as the President of Past President's Club and as the Secretary for the Manitoba Council.

Over the past 20 years, Barb has been the MTS Volunteers Project Leader as well as a volunteer at various community events such as Winnipeg Harvest Food Drive, Santa Sacks, Christmas Dinner for Less Fortunate (where her responsibilities included advertising the event, recruiting volunteers and working with the Salvation Army to invite guests for dinner), Easter Breakfast for the Less Fortunate, MS Walkathon, Walk for Juvenile Diabetes, MS Cyclethon and much more.

The Club Optimiste Saint Boniface Optimist Club was organized in 2000 and Barb signed on as a Charter Member. She has held the Executive Positions such as Secretary-Designate, Secretary, Past President, Optimist Clubs Foundation of Winnipeg Director, President and Finance Chair.

The Optimist Club devotes its time, money and energy to the youth of the community. Over the past 8 years, Barb has always participated in these projects and taken her turn chairing many of their initiatives. Her most recent accomplishment was the collection of over 2000 pairs for socks for RAY (Resource Access for Youth). Barb has been selected by the Governor to chair events such as Children's Program at District Convention, Essay Chair, Oratorical Chair and Quarter Board Meeting Chair.

In 2007, Barb was awarded the St. Boniface Optimist of the Year.

Barb Sul's continual involvement in the Winnipeg community and fundraising efforts have touched a number of lives, making a difference in the lives of children, the less fortunate and the community as a whole.
