Nicole Bisson retired in April, 2007 after more than 41 years of service - having worked under CN and CP, CP, Unitel, AT&T, AT&T Canada, Allstream and MTS Allstream. Nicole's tireless dedication, commitment, professionalism and ethics had a great impact on the Eastern Region that she supported as an HR Professional from 1981 until her retirement.

In her role as an HR Partner, Nicole had a significant impact on the Eastern Region that she supported. She commanded respect from everyone and established strong relationships with all levels of management, the Union and employees. She always had the interests of the Company at heart, yet maintaining a great balance between the interests of the Company and well-being of the employees. Her commitment was demonstrated during the 1998 severe ice storm by her countless personal hours coordinating housing arrangements which made a significant difference in helping employees cope with extraordinary conditions and ensuring the security of their families, despite her own personal challenges.

Nicole walked the talk and lived daily the corporate values of courage, empathy, commitment and passion. Her boundless dedication consistently demonstrated her “employee engagement” to the Company and had a significant impact on the morale of the employees, in particular during the “turmoil” years of downsizing and lay-offs.

Nicole’s leadership was instrumental in obtaining the "Prix Mérites du français au travail", a recognition of the Company’s efforts to promote French business activities in Quebec. In 1996, the Francization commitee was established and was immediately at work to ensure that the Company complied with the Charter of the French Language in Quebec. This compliance was necessary as it significantly impacted the Company’s ability to operate in Quebec. Nicole's leadership within the Francization Committee and dedication to this mandate were instrumental in obtaining this recognition from the “Office de la langue française". Her dedication, tenacity and efforts continued up until she retired in April 2007 and were key to the attainment of the Company's certification in September 2007 for the use of French as the working language and in its business activities in Quebec.
