Rick McMillin has spent his 28 year career at MTS making sure our customers have a good experience. Whether it’s installing service, developing products and services that met customer needs or leading the retail sales channel, Rick makes sure MTS does what is best for the customers. Rick began his career at MTS as a Field Service Technician, and after graduation from University he moved on to Business Planner and then Corporate Strategic Planner. His next step was a move to a Director position, managing 6 Phone Centres - retail outlets that were owned by the company at that time – that advanced face-to-face customer interaction. As part of his continued focus on the customer, he moved to customer care as manager of both consumer and business sales and service. He took the knowledge that he gained about understanding customers’ needs and moved on to the marketing department as Long Distance Market Manager. Rick and his team were instrumental in combating long distance competition and took MTS to the leading edge with our “First Rate” long distance plans- plans that are still in the market today. As Vice President, Retail Sales, Rick leads the group as the “Face to the Customer” of the Consumer Markets Division. This area manages several sales channels including the Dealers, Retail Business Solutions, the Business Partner Program, Tel-1-More and Payphone Sales. The Retail Sales channel ensures the customer experience is positive and focuses on the integration of MTS products and dealers’ products to create total solutions for customers. Rick has also led the Retail Roadmap and expansion of the MTS Connect store concept. MTS Connect Stores provide customers with a complete shopping experience. Since 2001, the stores have expanded from 8 locations to 37 throughout Manitoba. Rick explores ways to streamline procedures to improve the customer experience. He is the executive champion of the new “Freeway” tool which significantly improves customer wait time at the Connect Stores.
